Senior Payroll Specialist

What will you be doing?

In this role you are part of the CarNext People Service Center. The PSC runs, improves and maintains all the operational People processes and systems. In your role, you will be responsible for the operations of the end-to-end payroll processes and systems for CarNext employees (500-700 fte) in several European countries. You will execute the payroll in the Netherlands for two entities yourself, and manage the payroll providers for the other entities in six European countries. You will be handling expatriate administration and 30% ruling, manage our suppliers and will be involved in all hires/terminations, changes, promotions, leaves of absence and bonus payments. To further harmonize, standardize and optimize the payroll services, you will run payroll/HRIS projects, such as payroll provider selections and automation of processes and activities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Payroll processing for two entities in the Netherlands: processing mutation and creating first-time-right payment files to Finance
  • Benefits administration including a wide variety of insurances (health, accidental, pensions administration).
  • Manage and collaborate with partners (3rd party payroll providers) and vendors
  • Support Finance with month-end close and reporting activities.
  • Provide periodical reporting to relevant stakeholders including pension funds, social security, etc.
  • Serve as escalation/2nd line support for questions concerning the salary administration asked by CarNext HR, accounting, Tax Authorities and local governmental institutes.
  • Advise on matters impacting payroll like changes in regulations, benefits.
  • Reply to tax notices, wage orders, unemployment claims, government correspondences.
  • Support various internal and external audits.
  • Drive improvements on policies and processes related to payroll and benefits
  • Identify improvement areas, create plan of approach and assist in continuous improvements.
  • Advise, lead, design projects and manage the further roll out of the implementation.

Which skills and experience should you have to be successful in this position?

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or HR
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience executing payroll
  • Good working knowledge of wage taxation, social security and employment law in the Netherlands
  • Experienced knowledge of (AFAS) payroll software or other relevant HRIS
  • English, other languages as French, Spanish, Portuguese are an asset
  • Proven strength in a dynamic, matrix organized (EU) environment
  • Having managed functional relevant projects
